Terms of use

The plain-English version: the app is free, Pro is a paid extra you can cancel, you own your tasks, please do not abuse the service, and we cannot promise it will never break.

What you are agreeing to

By installing Petodo or signing in, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it, and if you have already installed it, uninstalling removes everything from your machine.

Free, and Pro

The app itself is free: the pet, adding tasks in plain words, reminders, repeating tasks, and your list on two devices. We will not switch off a version you are already using.

Petodo Pro is a paid subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time lifetime purchase that adds the hosted extras: nagging that keeps reminding you off the computer, your own Telegram bot, Pavlok, assistant access and unlimited devices. Prices are shown before you pay. A subscription renews until you cancel it; cancel any time and Pro runs to the end of the period you paid for. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are billed, refunded and cancelled under that store's rules; purchases made on the web are handled by our payment provider and can be managed from the link in your receipt. While Pro is not on sale, every account has it free; once it is, connecting Telegram or a Pavlok starts a 14-day trial once per account, with nothing to cancel.

If Pro ends, your list, sync, reminders and repeating tasks keep working; only the Pro extras stop. We do not delete anything.

Your account

An account is optional and exists only to carry your list between your devices. Keep your sign-in email secure, since anyone who can read it can request a link to your account. Treat assistant keys like passwords: anyone holding one can read and change your to-do list. You can remove any device or key at any time from your account page, and it stops working immediately.

Your tasks are yours

We claim no ownership of anything you write in Petodo. You keep every right you had in it. We store your tasks only to deliver them to your own devices, and we do not read them, mine them, or use them to train anything.

Your information

How we collect, use and share information is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. By using Petodo, its apps, its website or its services, you agree to that collection and use, including measurement of how the website is used, and you agree that the information may be accessed, processed and stored by third parties, such as our service providers, affiliated companies and partners, as the privacy policy describes.

What you may not do

• Use Petodo for anything illegal, or to store content that is illegal.
• Try to break into other people's accounts, or to reach parts of the service you were not given access to.
• Hammer the service in a way that degrades it for other people (automated bulk requests, deliberate overload, that kind of thing). Reasonable use through the app, the command line or an assistant is exactly what it is for.
• Resell the hosted service as your own, or present it as something you built.

If an account is doing one of these things we may suspend it, and we will say why if we can.

The software

The Petodo applications are licensed to you for your own use, not sold; you may install them on the devices you use and may not redistribute or resell them. The command-line tool is published separately under the MIT licence. These terms also cover the hosted service that syncing, the phone app, the Telegram bot, Pavlok and assistant keys use.

No warranty

Petodo is provided as is. It is a reminder tool made by a small team, not a safety system: do not rely on it alone for anything where missing a reminder would genuinely matter. We do not guarantee it will be available, that it will never lose data, or that it is free of defects.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Your tasks are also stored as plain files on your own computer, which is deliberate: you are never locked out of your own list by us being unavailable.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using Petodo, including missed appointments, lost work or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app or deleting your account. We may stop offering the hosted service, and if we do we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your list. The app itself keeps working on your own computer regardless.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially we will note it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Petodo after that means you accept the new version.
